Roatan Facts
The island of Roatán, founded as a municipality of Honduras in 1872, is the largest island in the department of the Bay Islands and current head of the department. Home not only to 78,000 inhabitants but to a great variety of plants, animals and the second largest reef in the world: the Mesoamerican system.
It is thanks to its natural beauty that Roatán is considered one of the most popular and visited tourist destinations worldwide; It was given the 15th position in the ranking made by Tripadvisor of the main destinations in the world in 2017. Roatan is considered to a blessed gem of the Caribbean, rare to be in path for natural disasters.
We are 1 of the 3 ‘Bay Islands’ that belong to Honduras. Stretching 60 km long. Roatan is divided into 2 parts East & West governments. The substantial differences between the East and the West would be population, convenience, and lifestyle.
As the largest generator of tourism in the country, Roatán has a large number of activities and tourist places.

Some of the most famous activities and events are snorkeling, dolphin shows, dolphin / shark swim, glass boat ride, canopy tours, Roatán International Fishing Tournament (September), Garifuna Carnival (April), Pirate Fair of Jonesville (June-July), Roatan International Shrimp Festival (June), carnivals the week of September 15 and Christmas on the beach (December). These and many other attractions can be found on this island paradise.
