Originally from Tela, Atlantida (mainland of Honduras), academically, Hilsy is laden with qualifications, accreditations, and accolades with two PhDs, one in Labor Law, Social Security, and Human Rights, and the other in Economic and Business Law, a Master’s in Labor Law, a Postgraduate Degree in Business Management and is certified as a Conciliator and an Arbitrator by the Honduran Bar Association (CAH).

Hilsy’s first significant role was at KPMG where she was Head of the Fiscal and Legal Advisory Department providing fiscal and tax advice to large corporations in a myriad of sectors including, but not limited to, the energy, mining, and metals industries, pharmaceutical companies, financial and banking institutions, electronics and communications organizations, etc.
